The worlds best-selling game franchise is back once more to overwhelm your
senses with a Michael Bay-style single-player campaign chock full of
explosions, a co-op Horde mode for score-chasers, and a new iteration of
Modern Warfares ever-popular multiplayer formula.
A direct sequel to Modern Warfare 2, players are placed back in the shoes
of Task Force 141s cast of characters who are avoiding an international
manhunt whilst simultaneously combatting serial antagonist, Vladimir Makarov.
Needless to say, therell be explosions, highly scripted, exciting action,
and all the other elements youd expect from a globe-hopping Call of Duty campaign.
Being a successful formula, and the main draw of any Call of Duty game,
multiplayer returns mostly unchanged. There are new maps, new weapons, new
killstreaks, and a few new mechanics, but for the most part the worlds
most popular multiplayer mode remains unchanged, just as the fans would have it.
The Spec Ops co-op mode also returns from Modern Warfare 2, though this time a
s survival gametype in which two players must fend off endless waves of
enemies. Featuring most of the multiplayer modes elements, players rank up,
attain killstreaks, and attempt to survive against increasingly challenging
enemies in the hopes of posting a top-tier leaderboard score.
On the PC, Modern Warfare 3 will feature additional configuration options,
allowing gamers to enable and disable Screen Space Ambient Occlusion, Depth
of Field, Anti-Aliasing, Texture Resolution, Shadow quality and other detail
settings. Three anti-cheat methods will protect the peer-to-peer ranked
multiplayer and the unranked dedicated servers, and once again general
multiplayer support will be provided by Valves Steamworks software.
All in all, Modern Warfare 3 is a refinement of one of the best-selling
games of all time, and theres absolutely nothing wrong with that, nor
would the franchises many fans want anything else.
